Time for Action


Wow... here comes another week.
what does that mean?
well, it's simple enough.
It means that reflection has to be updated again.
Hmm...what can I say about this week? Basically we were just asked to continue on our work for module 1. Time is really constraint. Without wasting any time, all of us (I dare say) took out our own laptop immediately once we entered the laboratory and start doing work quietly.
Yes, you do not see wrongly, is IMMEDIATELY...Amazing, right?

I was quite shocked too because all of us brought our laptop simultaneously without any requests from Pn Foziah...
That's a good sign, right? All of us were working so attentively on our module.
Besides, the spirit of cooperation can also be seen among all of us especially when one of us encounter certain problems in doing the module, we will always be attended by friends who know how to do it... Thanks to those friends who have helped me a lot in this module... Really appreciate a lot.
No doubt that this module is a kind of 'forcing' and keep 'reminding' us that time is NOT enough.

However, it has also taught us on a lot of things on how to convert the documents from one form to another form, how to search for certain softwares, how to burn cds etc.


I believe these will be very useful in our future life not only in education field but for other usage as well.
It is great, isn't?

Module 1

Well, time to write reflection again.

What should I say about this week’s lesson? Hahaha..

Our nightmare has come- our great MODULE 1.

This is a very handful work for us to do. We were given a big stack of module which is one of our assignments. The BIG problem is we were only given two weeks to complete it. Oh my goodness! I nearly faint when I heard this. I even ask Puan Foziah one more time if I have heard wrongly. Unfortunately, it was not a mistake. By hook or by crook, we must MUST complete it in two weeks time. How wish that I have more than 24 hours in a day. However, reality is always the cruel one.

That’s not the end of the module yet as we will still have more modules waiting for us at the back. Modules modules and modules. We have to sit there and look at our laptop all the time in order to finish up our module. However, it is too, a good experience for us to be exposed to a variety of softwares as we are given the steps on how to download the particular softwares and programs. From the module, I have learned how to download videos from youtube by using different types of software. Well, I have to go now.. lack of time in doing the module and was really worried that I cannot complete it on time. So see you next week. Hoping to see good news next week.

Technology and Learning




This week, we entered our class as usual and as usual we are given a task. For this particular task, we have to come out, design or search for the variety types of teaching aids that can be used in teaching the young children by using TECHNOLOGY. In order words, we have to find the teaching aids from internet. To do this, we need an ample of time to be ready in front of the laptop for a many many many “FEW” of hours in LOOKING for the suitable teaching materials according to the topic that we are going to teach the children for the lesson.

First of all, we were asked to find our partner which is of the opposite sex (as Pn. Foziah did not believe in boys’ production). Therefore, we were grouped by one boy and one girl. (Noted: There is only two persons in one group). Pn Foziah then assigned us the topics that we need to prepare for the teaching aids. Each group is assigned with three topics and my group has been assigned for the year 4, 5 and 6 which are on the topic of “Moving around”, “Glorious Food” and finally “Splashes of colour”. When I first look at the topic, that’s a big challenge for me and my partner, many thoughts came across our mind. "MOVING AROUND"? Is it about traveling to places or talking about transportation that move around? Alright, move to the second topic, "GLORIOUS FOOD"? From what we comprehended, glorious food means glory but wouldn’t it be weird if we apply on food? Haha…. Sounds funny right? Last but not least, the greatest challenge for both of us, "SPLASHES OF COLOUR"… sounds really fantastic. Teaching colour to kindergarten children is a piece of cake BUT NOT to the year 6 children. They are already well-equipped with the knowledge of colours. How can we make the lesson more interesting and effective when we teach the year 6 children on the topic of colour? That is a really GOOD question to be pondered on.



Coming out with these teaching aids are indeed a handful of work. It is not as easy as we imagine. We have to be really resourceful (as what this course is named) in searching for the suitable materials to be used for the particular topic. For this, we have to explore the world of internet by going in different websites to look for the materials such as flash games, flash cards, power point presentation, songs, videos etc. I shall say these are all quite challenging and tedious task to be done as we have to submit on this coming Thursday. However, what makes my life more miserable is that I lost all my work and internet teaching materials that have been collected out of a sudden when I was almost finishing my final work. All the documents just disappeared like that in front of me. I was really clueless and helpless. However, for this part, I must say I was quite thankful as my partner has helped a lot by doing more work in completing the task. Thanks a lot to him for being always supportive and tolerant with me in everything and whatever I did.

Group Presentation


The time passes so fast that we are now in the fourth week of entering resources class. Today we just continue on the presentation for those groups which not yet presented their work last week.

In fact, today’s lesson started with my group as the first group to present on the power point that we have prepared a week ago. Our sub topic was “The children’s ability to grasp meaning” Basically this topic was just talking mainly on the fact that children are not born with blank slates to this world. There is always something in their mind either formally or informally. For this specific sub topic, it emphases on the intelligence of children as they are able to comprehend from the sentence given even they do not understand certain word in the sentence. Children are smart; they are able to understand what you mean by just looking at your gestures, facial expression as well as intonation. Therefore, teacher should know about the children’s development well before they are able to carry out an effective lesson in the classroom.

Next sub topic that has been presented was entitled, “children’s creative use of limited language resources”. In this topic, we can see that children are very creative in the sense of creating their own words. Sometimes it is funny especially when you see the children talking among themselves as they are eager to express themselves even though they are not using the appropriate word. Therefore, it will be good if the teacher gives group work for the children during the lesson or the children are giving chances to express their point of view on certain issue. I believe this more or less will help to build up the children’s vocabulary gradually in giving out their piece of mind appropriately.

The following up presentation was on the title of “Children’s instinct for play and fun”. What comes into your mind when this topic is mentioned? Well, it is simple. The conclusion that we can make from here is ‘children love to play’. Teacher plays an important role in integrating games and fun activities into the lesson in order to make it more interesting and attractive. This will also enable the children to learn more effectively through indirect way of learning.

The last presentation for today was “The role of imagination”. Talking about imagination, that’s the children’s favorite. They will feel very excited when they are asked to do activities which are imaginative. (Mind you: young children are really creative, you will never predict what they can do based on their enrich imagination). Hence, to encourage them, teacher should always come out with more resourceful and innovative activities which help to develop their imaginative skills. A good suggestion from the group was carrying out the activity by using the method of desuggestopedia. For this, teacher can ask the children to close their eyes and imagine that they are now in a forest, then they are asked to imagine themselves to be one of the animal in the forest, how do they look like etc. This will surely interest the children and thus pay full attention for the whole lesson without feeling bored at all.

Besides, Puan Foziah has also taught us on how to download the song of ‘waka waka’ by Shakira, the lyrics as well as the video. For these, we have to download by using a variety of software and then prepare a power point to explain the steps one by one in downloading the songs, lyrics and videos. I have too, learned that we can use the button of ‘print screen’ to capture the image of the screen. It was fun. I found this useful as we can use it to explain to other people on how to do something precisely by referring to the image that has been captured on certain web. As saying says, “Picture tells a thousand words”
